Alright guys, here's the deal. So I went to
the InstallFest and tried to get RedHat installed on my computer. There
were just a lot of problems. To make a long story short, somehow the Linux
messed up something in the Boot-whatever-you-call-it and my Windows XP wouldn't
boot. Yeah. Big problem. And to make matters worse, the brand
new RedHat install wouldn't even work. Anyway, so after many attempts at
repair and other things, I finally just reformatted the whole hard drive and
started over with a new Windows installation. Sorry this is getting
long. So. My questions are these: I still want to install
RedHat on my other partition. I left 15 GB of free space for a Linux
partition. I also downloaded the three .iso files for the RedHat 9.0
install CDs. But I can't figure out how to burn the CDs as bootable.
I think I can handle the installation on my own once I get it to load the
CDs. But one more thing. When we tried to install RedHat at the
InstallFest, for some reason it didn't like my GeForce FX 5200 video card.
When it tried to bring up the graphical installer, as well as later when it
tried to bring up RedHat itself, the monitor just shuts off and goes into the
idle state. So is there some driver I have to install or something, or
what do I need to do. And When I install the Linux, where and how should I
install the boot loader so that my Windows XP will still work? Sorry if
I'm abusing the mailing list. But your help will be much
appreciated. Thanks.
Dave
