Sorry to reply to a reply while quoting the original, but I deleted it
by accident.

You can make redhat 9 load any module automatically when eth0 comes up
by making sure that there following line exists in /etc/modules.conf:
alias eth0 3c2000

That should do it.

If you run redhat-config-network, it may also be capable of setting this
for you.
