thank you soooo much!!! (especially for the quick response...) I ranThe important thing is to watch what is getting uninstalled when you select a certain package. So I want to uninstal X, but Y is going to get uninstalled also. Just check out for the Y.
apt-get install XFree86, and it either reinstalled or updated the
following: (XFree86-...)
libs, devel, twm, xfs, xdm, and most importantly: base-fonts!
i'm very excited that it all works fine now, but i am slightly curious
(for future reference), if you know what i could have uninstalled to
cause this problem... anyway, thanks again for all the help!
