[newbies] mplayer and DVD's in Mandrake

I've installed the packages for mplayer and the GUI, but I can't get 
DVD's to play back.  The DVD shows up and will mount, and I can even 
start the disk via the command line, but the buffer stalls out at 
19.82%.  Any help on getting this to work?  Thanks!
