It depends on whether you are using lilo or grub. Your first step is to boot into a
linux kernel. I have not used knoppix, but i'm sure when you boot from the CD it will
have an option to boot in some sort of "rescue mode". This should get you to a root
prompt. Now, 'mkdir' and create a directory to mount your linux file-system into
(i.e. /mnt/mycomputer). Then mount the filesystem (i.e. mount /dev/hda2
/mnt/mycomputer/). You will need to know which paritition your linux filesystem is
on, and adjust the dev# accordingly. (remember to mount the partition that your /boot
directory is on). Next, chroot in to your file-system. (chroot /mnt/mycomputer).
This will get you working in YOUR filesystem, not the one from the CD.
Next, re-install the boot-loader. If you are using LILO, just type lilo. If you are
using GRUB it's little more involved. Just type 'info grub' and navigate to
'Installation > Installing GRUB natively' for more information.
Then, type 'exit' to un-chroot, and type 'reboot' to restart.
hope this is helpfull...

You just need to put a boot manager back onto your master boot record (MBR).
What distribution did you install with (RedHat, Mandrake, Knoppix, etc)? Do
you remember which boot manager you used (LILO or GRUB)?
It isn't too hard to fix, but we need more information to give you good
instructions.
