Something else I would like to point out is that DDD is not much of an IDE
but it is a debugging tool, as opposed to Kdevelop and Anjuta. Personally
I use and like Anjuta a lot, especially the latest version. It is perfect
for users migrating from W*****s to Linux.
Also I would like to add that DDD has made my life a lot easier when
debugging, so a combination of Anjuta as IDE and DDD as a GUI for GDB is
one of the best choices for starters.

Anjuta is a development environment targeted to compete with KDevelop, but has more of a Gnome/GTK feel to it. They are both robust IDE's with very similiar feature sets. Which one I would suggest depends on the personal taste of the developers. Personally, I also prefer Vim in a console (using GDB/DDD when I'm really stuck).
