You can learn about the /etc/init.d and /etc/rc?.d directories and runlevels and so forth if you want. Also, there is a program called acpid that can monitor acpi events and execute a script when something happens, like when you plug/unplug it or when you open/close the lid, or when you press the power button. > Also, does anybody know of any good tutorials about putting a Fedora 1 > laptop running ACPI into suspend and/or sleep mode? I have not found a > good one yet, but I will keep looking if nobody knows of one. With 2.6 kernel you want to play with the /sys/power/state file. With 2.4 kernel you want to play with the /proc/acpi/sleep file. Take a look at this web page: http://acpi.sourceforge.net/documentation/sleep.html Good luck, Phillip -- Phillip Hellewell <[EMAIL PROTECTED]>
