i don't know that it's actually "known" for having few issues, but i've got linux running on a Toshiba Satellite 2400... great machine... only problems i have with it are self-caused... seeing as this is the newbies list, i'm guessing you're thinking about fedora? i had _no_ problems getting fedora set up on my laptop, and so the hardware appears to be quite linux-compatible...
