When using Linux, I like using KDE as my log-in session, and using KWrite as the editor for all my programs. How do I set KWrite as the default editor for .cpp and .java files?

Beyond that, I haven't been able to successfully set my Windows XP to accept Linux commands (such as 'ls' or 'grep') from the command line [as is possible on the Windows machines from on campus]. Someone once said to use Cygwin, but I haven't found what works, or how to make it work. Can anyone help me?

Larry
