java.sun.com has a rpm version of their installer if you want to use
that. I did the following:
1. make a directory for java in your home directory.
2. download the self-installing executable from java.sun.com it'll be
named jdk-1blah-blah.bin
3. save this file in your directory home/larry/java or something like that
4. change the permissions to make it executable
5. run it in your directory to install java
6. add the path to your java installation to your $PATH what do I type to do this?
