DJUKANOVIC IN THE USA A NUMBER OF TALKS ANTICIPATED IN AMERICAN CONGRESS
Podgorica - Montenegrin President Milo Djukanovic is on his three-day official visit to the United States of America (USA), invited by the American State Secretary Colin Powell. Today in Washington Djukanovic is planned to meet Powell as well as other American high representatives. Montenegrin President will also meet members of American Congress and leaders of top financial institutions. Also, at the US Institute of Peace, he will talk on "the future of Montenegro". DJUKANOVIC AND AMERICAN OFFICIALS NEW TREATMENT OF MONTENEGRO IN WASHINGTON Podgorica - Montenegrin President Milo Djukanovic is the first signer of the Belgrade Agreement to come to Washington after its adoption. The United States of America (USA) have proved to have a great interest in the Agreement - write Podgorica media citing the SENSE Agency sources in Washington. Djukanovic`s Democratic Party of Socialists (DPS) played a crucial role in the realization of the process by accepting an international plan on rearranging relations with Serbia. Contemporarily DPS was aware of the political crisis it would encounter at a domestic scene, but still proceeded with the plan for the sake of the USA and European Union (EU) backed compromise. Djukanovic`s visit to Washington will result in agreements on further expansion and enriching of the already existing full co-operation between Washington and Podgorica - said Montgomery. According to the SENSE Agency, Djukanovic`s forthcoming meetings in Washington will mainly deal with the issue of economic help to Montenegro in the coming period of three years. They also mentioned that Congress was working on the correction of the original plan of help to Montenegro of total $25 million. TODAY IN PODGORICA: MEETING OF SOLANA`S ENVOYS AND MONTENEGRIN PARLIAMENT LEGISLATORS Podgorica - Fernando Gentilini and Stefan Lehne, special envoys of the European Union (EU) High Representative Javier Solana, will talk today in Podgorica with legislators of Montenegro`s parliamentary parties about implementation of the Belgrade Agreement - announce Podgorica media. Gentilini and Lehne took part in negotiations and signing of the Agreement on rearranging of relations between Serbia and Montenegro in Belgrade, 14 March. According to Podgorica media, their visit to Montenegro has to do with the "slowdown of the Agreement implementation". MONTENEGRIN PRIME MINISTER FILIP VUJANOVIC: I HAVE NEITHER RESIGNED NOR DO I HAVE A REASON TO Podgorica - "I have not resigned, for I have no reason do to so" - said Montenegrin Prime Minister Filip Vujanovic in his interview to Podgorica daily "Vijesti". "The reason for my resignation should be in my personal responsibility for signing the Agreement on rearranging relations with Serbia" - said Vujanovic. But he underlined that "in his view, the Agreement represented a deal with Belgrade, European Union (EU) and international community, as well as a real chance of intensifying reforms and restoring Montenegro`s statehood". "Thus, to submit my resignation would be meaningless" - said Vujanovic. He also said he could not understand why Montenegrin Parliament would not accept his suggestion of the Government mandate cessation, following the breaking of a post-election agreement of the Liberal Alliance (LS), which in that way denied its confidence to the Government. The reasons for such behaviour in the Parliament, according to Vujanovic, are of a strictly political nature. "There are some who are in favour of the blockade, because by extorting resignation they want to proclaim the President of the Government a traitor. Others, yet, are putting off the Agreement adoption in the Federal Parliament, because they need time to come up with a deal with their Belgrade partners regarding a Constitutional Charter" - said Vujanovic. DANAS U PODGORICI: RAZGOVOR SOLANONIH IZASLANIKA SA CRNOGORSKIM PARLAMENTARCIMA Podgorica - Specijalni izaslanici visokog predstavnika Evropske unije (EU) Havijera Solane, Fernando Djentili i Stefano Line danas ce u Podgorici razgovarati sa predstavnicima crnogorskih parlamentarnih stranaka o primjeni Beogradskog sporazuma-najavljuju podgoricki mediji.
