It is the latest in a string of awards and honours given to the former Labour MP for Sedgefield. Mr Blair was named as the 2010 recipient of the annual Liberty Award in the U.S. last week. Previous winners of the award include former Soviet leader Mikhail Gorbachev, former South African president Nelson Mandela and former U.S. president Jimmy Carter. The medal was first awarded in 1989 and also comes with £67,000 in cash.
