Hi everybody, i hope you've had and been having a good Independence Day season and summertime! :)
I'm sure hoping summer will last a lot longer than it can! :)

Anyway, heads up -- many of you have already heard but maybe some of you have not -- city council meeting tonight @ 7pm at the usual place -- city hall, council chambers at 351 W. Center.

There will be a really important discussion on the street parking permit district for the North section of the Joaquin neighborhood (from 500 N. up to 800 N.

NOTE -- this is important for everybody because what happens in this part of the city will have a ripple effect on the rest of the city -- there are already three street parking districts in Pleasant View, Foothills Park, and University Gardens areas east of 9th east and north of the marriott center. There are double standards in these areas and there are double standards proposed for the next area on the docket -- the south joaquin area -- double standards to give the 1st pass free to owner occupants yet make owner absentees pay for the 1st pass AND to let owner occupants transfer the pass from one car to another but not to allow owner absentees to do that. That is the biggest issue with these parking districts. Note, the north joaquin parking district as it currently stands does not have the double standard of 1st pass free from what i have been told by one of my research associates.

Anyway, i'm encouraging people to ask for these parking districts to at least be amended to remove the double standards if not outright repealed.

However you feel on it, contact the city council @ [email protected] if you can't make it to tonight's meeting.

However please come if you can -- we need a visible display of opposition.

And please help spread the word by passing around this facebook link and RSVP yes or no link -- http://www.facebook.com/event.php?eid=109197106571-- you never know who you'll pass it to that might be able to come tonight -- we want a show of force tonight -- this event page is created by the Student Provo City Alliance who we are working with -- they have a mission to not only involve students but to help long-term residents get involved!

P.S. They are not knee-jerk reactionaries like some students have been but are level headed conscientious students. I highly recommend the good work that they are doing and I have been helping them. More on that later.

*P.P.S. very important -- many other important things on the agenda tonight -- please take a look at it here in case something affects you or your part of town -- *
