For me, Git + GitHub is a dream version control environment.  Very powerful,
easy to fork and easy
to pull from forks. Decision should be made on merits of system, rather than
how many others are using it;
and Git is relatively new on the scene. It may be more complex than other
systems, but it is worth the extra
time to learn.
