Sorry for joining the discussion late, but I too would like to vote for moving the project to GitHub. Not because I have a particular preference for Git, but simply because the way GitHub allows you to manage your open-source workflow (easy forking, easy pulling, issue tracker and wiki) is what makes it very nice to use. It's just so very simple to make a quick patch and present it to the main project committers in a clean way. I think this is also why Ayende and others have seen an increase of patches coming in: GitHub makes it easy to do.
I think it is the *workflow* that should be what influences the final choice, not necessarily the VCS. Roy
