I've never heard anything about NHibernate supporting or being aware of such syntax. Either I'm being ignorant, or you have something besides NHibernate that reads that syntax to create OdbcConnection instances that it then hands over to NHibernate, where NHibernate as per the other configuration is expecting instances of IfxConnection.
