I experience much the same, depending somewhat on the helmet, but I think it 
is because the wind is deflected/concentrated across the top of  your helmet 
and its vents.  Try ducking down - without lowering your chin/forehead, and 
see if the sound reduces.  Also raise up a little and you will get the wind 
full in the face shield.  I have a half-helmet without top vents that is 
much quieter than the modular/full-face with vents.  Even with the vents 
closed, the full-face is much noisier.
