Turn signal holders are easy to get from just about anywhere.  I have new ones
on my 700s and had no problem replacing.  I used bike bandit.  They have a
parts list.  Easy place to use.  I have a few extra parts, but doesn't sound
like anything you need at the moment.

Hi all,  I just bought another NH 700 - a blue 1984, great engine but is a
little shabby with a few missing parts.  Does anyone have the battery holder
for the 700S?  My last 700S was missing the same thing.  Can't find any on
e-Bay.  I also need the front rubber turn signal holders. In fact all turn
signals need replacing.  I'm missing one of the small chrome round swing arm
covers. I'd like to hear of any good parts anyone has for this bike.
On the other hand, I have a 1983 650 Nighthawk parts bike. I wanted the
exhausts, someone else is taking the motor, the rest is mostly in boxes, anyone
need parts?  Graham

Too bad that's not easier to do. It would make a great prank to play on a buddy

why I was doing 60mph backwards on the freeway.

Yeah, but it's the holy grail of short track racers to get a small block Chevy
to run backwards. It would make the engine torque complement the left turnz..
Most track rules forbid this... like it's common... not.    But if you
could..don't.  Ordinarily the torque loads the right front wheel and helps to
unload the left front. Reverse rotation would be a boon to traction. Smokey
Yunick worked on it for years.

My buddy has an old Yamaha RD400 that did this one morning. He turned the key
on and the bike just started right up without him having to kick it first. He
shrugged and went back inside while it warmed up. A few minutes later he came
out and went to take off, but went backwards. All he had to do was kill it and
kick it to go forwards again. Our nighthawks being 4stroke would have something
terribly wrong with them if they were running backwards.

Many years ago, when I was the Service Manager at Sears, we had a motorcycle

agreed to check it, using the service manual, which was very clear.  But he had
never ridden a motorcycle, and refused to start with this one.  When done, it
started and ran beautifully, and the satisfied customer took it
away..................... only to return angrily because all the gears were now
reverse, and there was no forward!  The engine was 2 cycle, and the timing was
incorrectly advanced enough to cause the engine to "backfire" before reaching
TDC, and it ran backwards perfectly, thus the "all reverse/no forward gearing.
A stumper at first, but with the timing set correctly, all was OK.
