My 250 has a 2" lip inside the tank to prevent one from completly filling (but i rock the bike when i fill it to get the air out of that void and more fuel in) i believe that is suposed to stop the fuel leaking out the cap issue.... Although when it got blown down by the wind i did see gas leaking out -----Original Message----- Date: Tuesday, April 13, 2010 9:54:59 am To: [email protected] From: "Javier Garcia" <[email protected]> Subject: Re: [Nighthawk Lovers] Re: 83 550 Gas Cap Seal Question
I think the tank cap should be sealed enough to prevent that. I do not have a center stand, but when I fill out my '96 750 I always make sure it is in a complete vertical position. I actually never get out of the bike to fill up. I have never had this problem, and I can remember at least a couple of times when I stop, fill up the tank, put the bike on the side stand and when the bathroom, grab a soda, etc. Sunny or not, the gas is always on my tank.
