The tire I ended up going with was much cheaper than the Contis. I picked up a Kenda Challenger, as it has a fairly good lifetime rating for a rear tire, decent handling and is meant for "touring". Since I daily my bike, I figured a long lived tire was more important than a super-sticky tire, and anything had to have better grip and handling than the worn out monster I was replacing.
