Hey, I used what I had! It was a long flat piece of stainless metal that I bent
into a U shape by driving my van over it. To bend the other end, I used the
back wheel of my 18 wheeler. The axle bolt mainly holds everything together. I
cut and bent the bottom just to make it more secure. What mainly holds it from
going up or down is the shock bracket, whick sticks out just enough. Yeah it's
big and heavy, but it works. I've used it for about 5 months now. A hacksaw and
a drill can go a long way. Come to think of it I still have enough metal to
make another one.

The horseshoe is thicker than the swing arm. In the picture look just to the
left of the Axle bolt. You'll see where the tab is bent in underneath the
swingarm to hold it up.

If you look close you can see where it's got what looks like a 1" tab cut out
and bent underneath the swing arm. That's all that's holding the vertical
weight, but like someone else said, it's overkill so I'm sure does just fine.

Whew.

That's a pretty severe looking piece of metal holding the trailer
tongue up. Can you say "over-engineered" boys and girls?
