a proper clean of the carbs and the petcock supply making sure you do
not have a vacuum lock because of a clogged petcock/filter is the
likely solution. Here are some carb links for the 83 550 and similar
carbs.these should help a lot. be particularly aware of vacuum leaks,
intake boot leaks (both up and downstream of the carbs), and note that
changes in the flow (removal of arirbox, or change from airbox to
individual carbs can make significant differences.
test to see if you are getting fueal to each cylinder by carnking
withkill switch in off position and inspecting the plags to see if
they are wet.
and yes the 550sc was only in the US in '83, some canada models were
also delivered in 84.
