Slide came out of the carb tonight. [image: applause.gif] Still took some careful gentle prying to get it to break loose, but much less effort than I was trying initially with no success. Passages are looking pretty clear but I'll give it another day before I start drying it out.
Next thing I started into this morning before work was opening up the forks to drain the old oil out. Think I should rebuild them? For that matter there is rust on the inner sleeve which seems like it would wreck the seals even if they are still in decent shape now. I've posted a couple photos below. My only idea is maybe to try to use Naval Jelly to convert the rust then sand, and even polish them so they are smooth... Am I thinking along the right lines here?
