Dry compression is regular compression test, when you screw compression tester into each cylinder and crank the engine. If test shows variations in cylinders you can add some oil into each cylinder and repeat the test. If then you got higher values of compression readings the piston ring and cylinder is worn. If pressure dont rise you may have problem with valves sealing.

a carb sync is vitally important and a must! i have a 86 rwb 700s and have done 125. but i would never try to spin the tire on pavement? whats the dry compression vs wet compression??? may need to do leak down test also?

I`ve got similar problem and reason was blockage in the rear
brake. You cannot fill it with lower speed, although you may feel
    some lack of acceleration.
    Check spinning of both wheels.

Hello my name is Joe! I just joined the group and I drive an
        86 700sc
nighthawk. I have a few questions for other riders. I've had
        my bike
about a year and have put alot of work into it. I dont have
        the power
I should have, I put a new carb and adjusted the air and gas mix,
compression is good and good spark and plenty of gas getting to
engine. I cant peel out or go past 95 mph. Any ideas?
