My tach was "sticky" so I had to disassemble it to clean the internals. It was very tricky to bend up the ring that holds it all together without hurting myself or damaging anything. It's possible to do, and I pulled it off, but it took a lot of patience and some ingenuity to find the appropriate tools and technique to pry it up.
