Those conditions can be a battery, generator or coil. You will not know until you test them or replace them. I know it's not the revs on your engine. Always concentrate first on the battery because that is the most likely problem. It is the same checking procedure as mentioned before.

Cc: [email protected] Subject: [Nighthawk Lovers] '85 650 Nighthawk Battery Issues New to me NH. Learning to ride in a parking lot at first, the battery seemed to have problems maintaining its charge...presumably because the RPMs were not up high enough to charge it (when in neutral and roll on the throttle, lights brightened - no throttle, lights dim). OK, no big deal...my boyfriend took it out the other day and had this sucker going at a good click, high RPMs and all, for a good 25 mins or so, and still had the same problem. We just bought a brand new battery yesterday, charged it for about an hour, replacing it today and see what happens. I searched the forum for "exactly" this issue, but couldn't find anything, although I do see a lot of threads pertaining to battery/ charging/electrical trouble. Has anyone had this same "exact" issue before, and will I still run into the same problem even with a new battery? Is this a common issue with this breed NH? Thanks for your help.
