I'm really wondering if I would want to make my bike louder just for a guess at
a gain in horsepower.
On the lines of loud vs quiet, does anyone here use a Bluetooth to talk while
riding? If so what model are you using? I sort of like the time on my bike by
myself, but lets face it, sometimes we need to take that call. Then there's GPS
and all kinds of reasons we might want to have it available. My Jabra works
fair, but my helmet allows a little too much noise in making it difficult to
hear. I'm wondering of those helmets with Bluetooth built-in are any better?
Anyone here have one of those?

That's called the "Hodge Mod" (after the guy who first did it on the
750.com website, back in the 90s). It's usually done in conjunction
with the Radio Shack fuel jet washer mod (so named for shimming fuel
jets in each carb with two #4 washers from Radio Shack).
Those who've done both, swear by the improved performance. The claim
of more power is mostly anecdotal since, as far as I know, there are
no dyno comparisons to back it up.
But the chatter indicates it does seem to improve driveability
throughout the throttle range (improved air-fuel ratio, no off-idle
stumble, faster warmup, less choke required, a little more exhaust
growl, etc.).
So better perceived responsiveness, yes. More power, not
neccessarily. But seems worthwhile and it's cheap and easy.
