Hay Brian, are you on the ST-Owners group? So what exactly have you tried to
fix it?

I like to try all the easy things first before doing the big projects, but I
think your problem is in the carbs. You can replace the air filter, inspect
the air intake lines, run it around the block with the cap off, and run two
tanks with seafoam thru, but if that does not fix it, I think you will have
look closely at your carbs if you want to fix it.

Ron

Is my understanding correct that you did this test with the bike stationary,
and not under riding load? I was trying to determine if you were having a fuel
delivery issue. The bike will consume greater quantities of fuel when riding as
opposed to stationary, so it may not develop with that test. However since the
issue didn't develop, then I would assume the coils are functioning properly.
Provided that you allowed the engine to completely warm up, as weak coils show
their signs when hot.

So I tried reving it up past 6,000 rpms and it did not bog down. I did not
do the full throttle test, I didn't have time to take it out on the road.

  Thoughts.

What year? Is it carburated? If you keep trying to rev it higher will it
loose speed and eventually die? It sounds like a restriction in the fuel line.

    Hey Guys,

I know this isn't a Nighthawk question, but you guys are "My friend that
knows motorcycles". And thanks for being that friend! I try to be that friend
back when I can.

My ST1100 runs great under 6,000 rpm, but when I get on it to pass someone
or just playing around and the rpm's 6,000 or so it bogs down. Kinda like when
a bike is cold and you give it to much gas, but it does this every time.

If I shift and bring the rpm's down under 6,000 it stops bogging down and
runs normal.

    Any ideas?

    Thanks,

    Brian
