Hello everyone, just wanted to make a quick comment concerning this post
about the starter. I was having the same "problem," but could always push
start the bike, so I never really worried about it. Then I read this post
and almost the VERY NEXT DAY, I went to work, everything was fine. Came out
to go home, nothing!! I thought man, my starter must have FINALLY gone out.
Was kicking myself for not taking care of it sooner.

Walked home, about 1.5 miles, mostly uphill, so I dreaded pushing the bike
home. (I tried calling AMA's Roadside Assistance, but they couldn't get
anyone to come out on a Sunday afternoon.) Started looking for a starter,
then after reading this post, I started looking for a rebuild kit, etc.

Anyway, I walked to work the next day. Once I was finished, went out to
start looking at wires, connections, etc. Still couldn't get it to start.
Took the seat and and both side covers off so I could hear better. All I
was getting was click, in the middle of the bike. All the lights were lit.
Assumed it was the battery, but after more reading, thought it might be the
starter relay switch. Walked back home...

Next day after work, I figured I would push the bike home and give the
battery a really good charge, even though I knew it couldn't be the
battery. Half way home on the down side of one of the hills, I thought what
the hell, I might as well try to push start it again, there was a lot of
slope to the hill. Sat on the bike, checking everything out, then I notice
that one of the plugs connecting to the clutch switch is out of the
connector!! Plugged it in and EUREKA!! Was so relieved!!!

I guess the moral of this story is to check EVERYTHING!! I had checked the
RUN/OFF switch. I checked all the wiring connections. Never looked at the
Clutch Switch. :(

I still charged the battery when I got home, I will buy a starter rebuild
kit cause it looks like it is easy to do and it's $15! I will order a
starter relay cause it it's only like $10. Seems I should have a spare one.
