I think it has to do with the design of the stand and weight of the bike. My
nighthawk I didn't even need to get off the bike to pop it up on the center
stand. My VFR is way harder even though it's roughly the same weight. Javier's
CBR is almost a 2 person job, his GL1200 actually was a 2 person job.

I can't speak to all years of the ST but my 2006 is pretty simple and I
think easier than the NH.

To add to this conversation, having lower profile tires on a bike can make
getting it on the centerstand difficult.

I bought a st1100 that I could not get on its centerstand with all the
practice in the world. And I've never had an issue with my NH750. So I
gave up and never used the stand.

This week I got new tires and in the process noticed the new tires,
regulation size, were higher profile than the old ties the previous owner
had on the bike. I thought that might have been the issue, so when I got
home I tried to put the bike on the centerstand...and it popped right up
there with no issues.

So if anyone's having issues with the centerstand I would check the tire
size.

Sincerely,

Brian

This is how I do it on my 96 NH750. But I have to add that this doesn't
quite exactly work on all bikes. The technique is the same, but there are
bikes in which just putting your weight on the center stand won't make it.
You will actually need to pull up the bike. I have found this to be the case
in even smaller bikes, like the suzuki gs500.
