On the 83-85 650 al least the solenoid has a fuse strip and if it is bad you will get no power. That might be something to check as well. Sent via BlackBerry by AT&T

I would suggest cleaning and resetting all connections. Something as simple as the ground wire not grounding, although it looks like it is connected to the frame just fine, can cause this. I had the headlights go out on my Nighthawk a couple years back and it was the ground wire, although it looked like it was connected just fine.
