I got everything put back together, new battery charged up, got the bike started, and went for a spin around my neighborhood. Initially I had some trouble with low rpm idling. 400-700. I adjusted that and got it where I wanted. There was some white smoke as I revved the engine a bit getting warmed up and testing things out. I figure it's burning off some PB blaster, seafoam, or other crud from sitting for so long. First time being ridden in almost 10 years. I had checked the air filter and re-checked it after. It looks fine. I had quite a bit of trouble just getting in to 1st gear, very touchy, stalled out over and over. I chalked it up to lack of experience, but a more experienced rider friend gave it a whirl and also had trouble at the get go. Maybe I just need more practice to get used to it. The thing that worries me the most, and this happened to me and my friend, when we were returning home and downshifting and pulling into the driveway, the engine acted as though we were revving hard. 4-5k rpms or more with out touching the throttle. Quite a lot of white smoke. So shifting, throttle, revving, and white smoke. Any thoughts.
