Hello Eddie, I just joined the forum and I have been owning a Honda CB650SC for 30 years. I had a similar problem with the alternator.
First thing to check is the voltage at the battery terminals with engine running at roughly 4.000 rpm. Voltage should be 13.7V minimum. Let me know and I think I can guide through troubleshooting.
