I won’t answer for Sean, but any vehicle has a chance of breaking down.  As a 
‘96, you likely have plenty of access to parts and shops to help you while you 
are in the road.  It just comes down to money.  Spend it on a newer bike or 
maintaining your older bike IF it breaks down on the road.  There is always the 
option to rent a Uhaul and drag her back if she breaks.

All that said, these darn things are so reliable that I wouldn’t worry too much 
about it.  With basic and continuous maintenance, I would not be surprised to 
see any of these hit 200k plus.  Your PC (?) is likely just as reliable.
