Yeah I've tended to think the same about Sea Foam. But the shop owner recommended it, and he is a seasoned professional mechanic. Says he's seen it work in practice. As a hack home mechanic, I'm not really in a position to doubt him.
BTW, the carbs have already been cleaned and rebuilt. This is about cylinder compression, not carbs.
