Hi Rusty and fellow Nikon users, >1. Does the F4 have manual film advance (not rewind) capability? I don't think so. >2. Does the FA have any other metering than matrix metering >(ie center-weighted)? Yes, the FA has centre weighted metering as well as the so-called AMP (Automatic Multi-Pattern) metering. Its not exactly the Matrix Metering that we know of today but a predecessor (and sometimes inferior in certain tricky exposure situation) to it. Having said that, I used to own a FA and it was lotsa fun. In addition, its got the 4 exposure modes that you'll find in any AF camera these days, namely Manual, Aperture, Shutter and Program. >I'm considering an FE2, FA, F4 or anything else Nikon, that would I personally would prefer the FA over the FE2 but it would seem that the FE2 fetches a higher price than the FA in the 2nd hand market. The F4, IMHO, has too many switches and knobs and severly outdated in metering and AF speed. For the cost of a 2nd hand mint F4s, you could get a new F90x/n90s (which can shoot circles around the F4) in Singapore. >provide manual film advance, TTL-OTF flash, MLU or pseudo-MLU, >ME,standard hot-shoe, and center-weighted metering (matrix option would >be nice but only as an option). Sounds like you would be looking at either a F4 or F3P/T (which has a regular hotshoe). Hope that helped. Regards, Deric Soh.
