How to take Sepia Photos??

I know this isn't nikon specific but, I know of no better place to ask. I
am going to be doing a photo shoot for a friends parents and they want some
of the pictures to be Sepia colored, but I have no idea how to do this. My
first idea was to use a Sepia Filter, but wouldn't that take away the white
color, making everything brown? Is Sepia done in the printing process? or
an accessory to the lens? Any information is greatly appreciated.
