I have a second-hand Nikonos V with a 35mm lens.
Both are in working order. I have recently bought
a second-hand UW-Nikkor 15mm f2.8 lens and when I
use it the cameras meter always says that I am
under exposing, even with lens wide open, above
water in bright sunlight. I believe the problem is
that the rear lens element is so close to the film
plane that the SPD cell cannot pick up the light
reflecting from the metering area on the shutter
blades. Everyone I have spoke too here (including
the Australian Nikon agents) have said that the
meter should work with the 15mm lens. I suspect
that the lens design has been changed since mine
was made but no one seems sure. The marking on the
front of the lens is as follows: U.W-NIKKOR 1:2.8
f=15mm 153177. The 153177 is the serial number. If
anyone is aware of this problem can they please
contact me.
Thanks in advance.
