Hi all,

I own an F801s and the 80-200 f2.8 but when hiking get tough I carry:
- F301 [very rugged cheap body]
- AF 28-70 3.5-4.5 [very lightweight even if a bit fragile].
- MF 75-150 Series E 3.5 [great performer: light and fast].

Sometimes I add:
- TC16A [very small - I can reach 240 f5.6 with the 75-150]

I keep always UV filters for protection and I carry the body with one
lens around the shoulder and the other lens in the backpack in soft lens
case.

Maybe you can find a 75-150, or go for a second hand 135mm (even the
f3.5).
Is difficult to find cheap 28-70 or 28-85 so you can look for a second
hand 28mm (beware of the 28mm series E or the 28mm AF non D) to carry
with the 35-70 2.8.
Off Nikon, I found not bad the old Tamron SP 28-80 3.3-4.5

I hope this helps
