Hi Gideon, Great name. I have converted a third party (Soligor 135/f2.0) non AI lens to AI. Here is what I did : 1) Lay everything under a soft cloth, so that small pieces won't bounce off when you take the lens apart 2) Remove the aperature ring. 3) Mark how much metal has to be removed from the aperature ring, and file it off 4) Remove the prong, and replace it with a custom strip of metal which matches the length and shape of the ridge of an AI Nikkor with the same aperature 5) Put everything back together Whola Hope this helps.
