Hello to you all. As I know about this, Nikon makes this lens by itself. How
could they ask Canon to make one of their kind of show window displaying
lens. Nikon says that their lenses are made and checked by Nikon, and that
is the only why that Nikon can have consistent and very reliable lenses.
About SWM, it like Canon but much bigger than Canon's according to some
magazines. I think that your dealer did not know the truth and just guessing
about that.
Similarities are always exist among products, such as cars, TV, etc. and
even cameras. Nikon designed this lens similar to Canon's because, I think,
that the best way to make the best lens. All companies, Nikon, Canon,
Pentax, Minolta, etc. is doing the same things, create the best products.

One more thing, Be careful to those dealers who act like experts. No offence
that I experienced that more than half of them even do not know about how to
use camera and lenses or else. They just want to sell more, that they only
care about.

Anyway, I hope you enjoy your new lens. I am planning to get one soon.

Regards,

Tsuyoshi

     Dear all,

I recieved my AF-S 80-200mm lens about 6 weeks ago and I can tell you,
compared with its predecessors it's a joy to use it.

However, a local photo dealer told me recently, that in fact this lens
is built by Canon. As I heared this, I couldn't believe, but as I were
able to compare the Nikon version to the (very similar!) Canon
version, I thought this could be possible.

Now, my question is, just for my interest, whether anybody has also
heared about this and whether this is true or not?!

     Thank you in advance,

     Regards,

     Michael
