Just a fairy tale.

The original post was actually in photo.net a couple of weeks ago and has
since been deleted - I will post my reply again.

I own an FM2n with the same cursive 'L' - It is the trademark for 'Lemix'
Nikon - the retail name for the Anam Optical Company Korea some years ago.
Anam assembles Nikons in Korea strictly for the Korean market(although U
can buy Anam labelled Nikons in Taiwan - probably grey market). Anam also
manufactures parts for Nikon(as a sub-contractor).

Anam Optical has since abandoned the Lemix brand name(I don't know how long
ago) and all Nikons assembled in Korea are labelled with the Anam logo
along side the 'Nikon' name on the bodies and lenses.

There is NO difference between a 'vanilla' FM2n and a Lemix labelled FM2n
in function. My FM2n with the 'L' has a Titanium shutter and was probably
manufactured before 88/89 - when Nikon changed over to the aluminium ones
ala N8008/F801. So the Lemix name goes back a fair bit.

The seller probably picked up the camera in Korea many years ago and trying
to pull a fast one on the buyer.
I believe the only Nikon cameras to be used for the NASA space program are
the F2,F4 and maybe the F5.
