the topic that bill has brought up is one i find interesting. photography is like any other art, and some people have more potential. i have a web site at: http://members.carol.net/~bob/old_photos.htm which shows some photos i like, but the page is rather old. some of the best examples on it, for instance, the one at the top of the page, the one of the Moulin Rouge, and the one called Friends were shot with low level equipment. the first two were entirely without training. i just "saw" them. look at a scene. now, without moving, can you tell what it would look like if you viewed it from a different angle, with say a 24mm lens? what about a 105? when i point my camera at a scene, i get a good photograph. now that i have studied composition, i know why. sound cocky? i suppose so. my real point is that everyone has different skills and abilities, and there is no magic equipment or technique that will help you to "see". in fact, after having acquired a large collection of nikon gear, i have now sold it all except an FM2, a 35mm 1.4, and an 85 2. now i'm into 4x5 which requires me to "see" in ways the eye cannot. hope i haven't offended anyone, that's just the way i see things ;) bob rogers anderson, south carolina
