(warning: this post does not focus on Nikon.)

I just like to let you know I understand and share your disappointment.
The sales people at the Wolf Camera in Dallas (near loop 35 & Royal) are
just as bad and rule. So, I went trying mail order via Coast to Coast
and Focus??. They don't even reply to me. Since I belive in the system
of free market, I shop elsewhere.

All these companies just missed a mid four figures transaction I placed
with another mail order company. To really teach them a lesson, we, the
customers, needs to stop buying from them in one full week or month.

Cheers!

Homer:

I've been in the same Wolf Camera Store and got the same treatment. But if you're in
the Dallas/Fort Worth area you might try two camera stores in the 'burbs. The first
is Competitive Camera on Forest Lane in Garland
(North east Side of Dallas). My wife bought me an N-70 for Christmas there along with
the 28-80 3.5-4.5 zoom and they treated her royally. I went back to look for an
80-200 zoom and faster than I could think about it
they had one mounted on an N-90. They also recommended the new 70-300/D ED-IF Zoom
which I tried out and ended up buying rather than then 80-200. They had an F-5 in my
hands as soon as I asked about it. I've seen them
whip out a camera body faster than lightning as soon as someone asks about any brand
lens, not just Nikon. I even bought an SB-28 from them for the same reason. Right now
I'm debating buying a 105 2.8 microNikon from
them. There is a Wolf Camera 2 blocks from my home in the Colleyville area of the
mid-cities, but my wife and I will drive the 40 miles to Competitive simply because of
the service they have given me. Their prices are
slightly higher than the New York, etc. mail orders places, but the service is
teriffic. As soon as you walk in the door they're asking how they can help. They also
do mail-order

Another store I'd recommend is Arlington Camera in Arlington Texas (home of the Texas
Rangers),
Prices there a litle higher than Competitive--but less than Wolf's--depending on where
you live in the D/FW area.

Both stores have excellent service and have fairly extensive inventories of most
brands.
