Hi all.
This is a very exciting news since I've always wanted the AF
performance of the F5 but am reluctant to put down that much
money for it and this F100 seems to be a good compromise.

What surprised me is that the F100 looks very much like the F5
INCLUDING the manual rewind crank. I just wonder how the combo
F100/MD15 will look like, an F5 clone with less features ? :-).

Some peoples were wondering about the location of the 5 AF points,
but since it uses the exact same AF module as the F5, multiCAM1300,
I'll expect that it's 3 cross sensors and 2 vertical sensors with
the exact same location as in the F5. I'm also a bit surprised that
the F100 will do *only* 5 fps because the N90s is supposed to stay and
the F100 is not to replace the N90s, but is more positioned between
the F5 and N90s. In this case, 5 fps is too close to the N90s at 4.3 fps
and 4.1 tracking. I think 6 fps tracking would seem to be a right number
for the F100 but anyway, who needs 6 fps, or even 8fps of the F5 besides
the sport photographers ? :-).

Since the F100 will have the red highlighed active sensor, I'm wondering
if the F5 would have a new standard screen that will have this new
feature
as well because right now it's only bold when active. That will surely
help when shooting in dark places.

Anyone wanna guess on the price ? Also, I'll really like to buy the
camera
as soon as it's available but I'm afraid that it could have some early
bugs that will be fixed later.

Just a thought on the new F100. Has anyone seen the MB15 grip yet ?

Btw, I remember reading an article on Chasseur d'Images saying that the
F100
rumor is false (because there was some rumors about the F100 being at
Photokina)
so I'm wondering what they're thinking now :-). I think Nikon should
have produced
the F100 in time for the Photokina show even if it's only a prototype.
There was
a tremendous marketing potential there but Nikon has missed it.

Regards.

Lan.
