I only use short fixed focal lenses or MF lenses in the short range and for only 1% of my pics an AF300/4 with AF, an mf28 all the time. Don't expect too much from Nikon regarding the F5 and battery drainage! just my bad experience! sImOn from Vienna PS now I am charging NiMH cells every week (get also 8-12 films out of them).
