Hi all,

During my travels in Latin America over the last three months I brought my F5, and an
N60 as a second body. This has given me a good opportunity to critically evaluate the
N60, so I thought I would share a few notes with you. Now, expectations on a $300 body
are of course different than on a $2000 body. Even so, there were a few points where
the N60 has been disappointing.

- Trigger delay: There is a most significant delay before the N60 fires the shutter. I
would estimate about 250 ms, but I do not have the specs available.

- Film advance speed: Yes, I knew that it would only do 1 fps. I just was not prepared
for it, and I did not know how much I actually depended on faster advance. This led to
several missed shots.

- Popup flash: The flash lock disengages too easily, if the flash is slightly knocked
sideways it pops up even though the release button has not been pressed this happened
when the camera was in my bag.

- On-off switch: The switch is similar to that of the F5 but has no lock, which makes
it easy to accidentally turn on the camera while in the camera bag. Not too bad you
might think, but in combination with the flash popping up accidentally, batteries were
drained overnight on two occasions. Not a good design.

- Tripod mount: when mounting a 180/2.8D, the polycarbonate camera body flexes enough
to almost induce vibrations. Shots in windy conditions were difficult, I had to hold
the lens still with my hand. I used an Arca-Swiss-style plate, which had wide contact
with the bottom plate of the body.

- The design of the N60 also seems to attract too much attention - people commented on
my expensive camera!

That said, I still believe that the N60 is a decent value. Exposure was good, and the
camera has been working flawlessly for the 20 or so rolls that I used it for during
three weeks of my trip. Mine is now for sale, in close to mint condition, U.S.
warranty expires in October. Feel free to give me an offer before I post it for sale
on the newsgroups. Also a 35-105D for sale, excellent condition, one very very small
mark on front element, otherwise close to mint. No warranty, about three years old but
not used very much. Both items boxed with all docs. For sale in the U.S., or possibly
in Sweden after May this year, as I am moving back home.
