Think about what type of lighting result you want, especially for people
shots, because the quality of light you get with a softbox is far superior
to on camera flash, bounce flash or umbrellas (that tend to give weird catch
lights in the eyes). If you plan to use a softbox and/or a large panel
reflector, and if you want to use a smaller f/stop to get good DOF for
portraits, you will need a lot of light -- much more than the SB-28.
If that is what you need, consider a monolight and softbox. I have a
monolight from Paul Buff, but there are many good ones. They are much
heavier than the SB-28 type, and require AC power and a light stand.
If you go with the AC stobe, you will also benefit from a flash meter.
