        They're both pretty simple cameras.  The F2 is 
        just a bit more 'rugged'.

        If the F2 is the same price as an EM, then I suspect
        that it is an older version.  If it is, you'll have to use 
        stop-down metering with AF lenses -- the older 
        finders don't have AI coupling and the new lenses 
        don't have the metal 'shoe' for the old finders. 

        Unless you really need a camera that can withstand
        more than normal abuse,  I'd  go with the EM.   It'll 
        work better with new lenses, has an ISO hot-shoe 
        so just about any flash will work on it, and as you 
        mentioned, it's a lot less weight to lug around. 

        I haven't played with an EM in years, but if memory 
        serves me correctly it was internally pretty much the
        same as the little MX/ME cameras Pentax had out at 
        the same time, and has a fairly decent shutter (made
        by Seiko?).
