Lou,

What you ask would be EXTREMELY easy on a F5 or (I assume) F100.
Simply use Custom function # 4 (on the F5) to remove autofocus 
activation from the shutter release. Then use the AF button on the 
camera to focus, and shoot till your heart is content (or your subject 
moves, or you run out of film ;-))
